What happens when you make a donation to the Jack Dodd Foundation?

August 1, 2019

Now that the Jack Dodd Foundation has been active for 6 months, we thought we’d give everyone an update on where your very generous donations have been going.

As many of you know, our injured riders fund is at the heart of the foundation. Jack’s accident last year opened our eyes to how straining unforeseen injuries can be on a family, not only emotionally, but also financially. With hospital bills for emergency care and patient transfers often reaching over €100,000, we hope our fund can take some pressure off families affected.

Our network, which will be published for everyone to access via our website free of charge, is based on a no fee advertising agreement with contacts in a range of fields supplementary to the equestrian industry. All agreements with contacts are between them and the riders, the foundation merely acts as an advertising board to try and ease the stress of finding reliable assistance.

Finally, we have chosen to donate a percentage of all proceeds at the end of the year to three charities that are close to our hearts; the Brain Battle Fund at Maastricht University Hospital, the Irish Kidney Foundation, and the Irish Injured Riders Fund.

Our legal deed ensures that all donations are handled in conjunction with the three goals outlined above and regulated by the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK number: 733 484 65). Further, the foundation undergoes a voluntary financial inspection on a yearly basis to ensure we are able to maintain a tax-free status and maximise the impact of your donations.

All and any payments for extra advertising materials such as showjumping fences or embroidered items for our ambassadors are paid for by the members of the board from their private accounts in order to increase the awareness of the Foundations existence.
